Hello all! Today I’m sharing a review for a stunning fantasy novel about facing challenges to save the world.
This book is the second in a duology. This review will not spoil Redemptor, but it may have mild spoilers for Raybearer.
Author: Jordan Ifueko
Genre: Adult Fantasy
In this marvelous conclusion to the Raybearer duology, Tarisai and her brothers and sisters face many challenges to keep the world in balance and out of war. As Tarisai tries to build her own council, she struggles with mysterious visitors from the underworld.
Well that was really fun. There was so much packed into this book, and I was captivated the entire time. The thing about the series is that it is so well thought out and full of rich descriptions, cultures, and ideas. The setting is very vivid and interesting, but the plot moves very quickly. And on the one hand I love how detailed and quick both books were– it made them so easy to read. That being said I loved Tar, Dayo, and this world. I love the story, and I would’ve read this book if it was expanded upon and a trilogy or even 5 or 6 books..
This book was exciting because we got to see Tarisai struggling with her power, her desires, and trying to do the right thing and be the Empress her people need her to be. This story builds upon the idea of a council as we try to decide what it actually means to be a Raybear, who is worthy, and why. I loved how this concept came full circle throughout this book! Tarisai has brought so many wonderful changes in the land, and I am so proud of her.
Ultimately I loved this book! It was easy to listen to, but it was also captivating and gorgeously written. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a thrilling fantasy series about power, justice, and compassion. This book has found family, queer exploration, and magic. It is truly a stunning read.
Have you read this book? I really enjoyed this duology, and I would love to know what you thought of these books!
