Unspoilery Blurb – Taken from Goodreads
Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can’t seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a “take me home” look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker’s owner reaches out. He’s a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.
Well, Sloan’s not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can’t deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There’s no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?
Unspoilery Review
This book was so cute and amazing. It dealt with grief and bereavement so well, and I loved seeing Sloan’s journey. When I read about the death of her husband in The Friend Zone, I was heartbroken- but that was nothing compared to reading about her story in this book. This was such an honest feeling book that I got swept up in, and the whirlwind romance was perfect. There were immense challenges and struggles, but the book still ended on an upbeat that made tears prick in my eyes.
I had such a wonderful time reading this book, and I think this story tells an important story about grieving, loss, and taking care of yourself. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a story about loss, love, opportunities, and dogs.
Spoilery Review
Well I was hooked immediately. I loved Tucker instantly, and I am a totally sucker for text/ phone conversations. Seeing Sloan and Jason get to know each other over the phone was fantastic, and I loved the instant connection between them when they finally meet! I totally shipped them, and it was great to see Sloan get out there again. I adored the dinner they had with Kristin and Josh! It was so funny, and I love Kristin so much! 😂 And the karaoke and almost sex after!❤️
It was wonderful to see Sloan connecting with Jason’s family in Minnesota, and I loved that entire trip! Sloan’s relationship with his mom was sweet, and the familial support was nice to read about.
When Jason started touring, I wanted to cry. The whole situation was just messed up and I felt so bad for the two of them. I’m not surprised they needed to take some time apart to make it all work, but the falling out was still miserable! Lola was such a mess for a long time, and there was so much pressure on Jason and Sloan’s new relationship.
I loved the whole side plot with Lola getting better and learning to take care of herself. Her story really showed the pitfalls of the music industry, and I enjoyed that she ended up being a nice person who helped out our characters! It was so nice to have her working on songs with Jason so he could finish up his awful deal sooner!!!
The final concert in LA was cheesy and phenomenal. I was dying from secondhand embarrassment, but I was also thrilled because Jason was being Jason in that moment- not Jackson. I hated seeing him falling apart after Sloan left, and I had hoped that the amazing picture she painted him was the push he needed! The dramatic gesture was perfect, and I am thrilled that the public loved their story enough to support them!
Oh gosh, that epilogue. Hehe. It was sweet and had a very happily ever after vibe, but I really felt like our characters deserved it! I am glad Sloan and Jason figured out how to tour effectively, but it’s finally over! 🎉 I am thrilled for them to be moving to Minnesota with Kristin and Josh, and I wish them years of happiness together with their amazing friendships and kids!
This book was great, and I hope you all read it!
